Mysore had grown in strength under the leadership of powerful rulers like Haidar Ali (ruled from 1761 to 1782) and his famous son Tipu Sultan (ruled from 1782 to 1799)Mysore was controlled by the profitable trade of mallabar coast where the company would purchase pepper and cardamon.In 1765,Tipu sultan stopped the exporting of sadalwood,peeper and cardamon through his ports of his kingdom and disallowed the local merchants from trading with the company.He also established a close relationship of French in India to help his army train.The British were furious saw Haidar Ali and Tipu sultan as ambitious , arrogant and dangerous.
Tipu or Tippu Sultan also known as the Tiger of Mysore, was killed by three rounds of musket shot from the British troops attacking the city of Srirangappattana oh the 4th May 1799. It is not known who actually fired the shots.
