What will season 4 of Vampire Diaries be about?

Season 4 will focus on Elena's struggle to accept her identity as a vampire.

We will see Stefan and Elena together at least for a little while. And there's a 99.9% likelihood that Klaus body did not burn up in that coffin.

We are currently waiting for Season 3 episode 8. Season 3 starts with Elena's birthday and Stefan is with Klaus and he is "off the rails". Anna and Vicki also return, along with other ghosts such as Shelia Bennett, Pearl, Frederick, Lexi and Mason Lockwood. Klaus resurrects his sister, Rebekah who he is much closer to than his brother Elijah. Damon and Elena are much closer and I think Elena is developing feelings for him, although it is obvious that she loves Stefan still. Elena's necklace which is the Original witches talisman, is able to make the dead people come back. Bonnie destroys by fire, but it comes back because it has magic in it.
