The scarecrow is the first companion that Dorothy meets to bring along with to the Wizard as she wants to go back to Kansas, and the Scarecrow wants a brain. The Cowardly lion is met last when Dorothy is accompanied by the Scarecrow and the Tin Man and he decides he would like the see the Wizard to get Courage. The Code of Chivalry is what refers to how knights were to act. Courage is one of the virtues a knight had. For knights, courage meant taking the side of the truth in everything instead of looking for an expedient lie and being prepared to choose the path that would be hard.
