It would be more appropriate for an adult to be banished then a young person for many reasons. One reason is an adult knows more about how to take care of themselves then young people. Young person is more dependent on others and an adult is more independent and doesn't need others as much as young people. Also adults are more mature and know more about what right or wrong and young people are still learning or still maturing. The last thing is that young people can still be taught not to do bad things while adults you can't do that as well.
