Mahatma Gandhi was strictly nonviolent, whereas Mandela headed the BT at one point (a terrorist organization). Mandela did move towards compromise at a later point with the South African Government, but he was not as absolute as Gandhi on the issue of nonviolence. The similarity in both cases was that they were key to changes in government.

Everybody. She refused to move to the back of the bus and set off the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, a very important event in the Civil Rights Movement. She worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rosa Parks: She was just a normal black woman that wanted to gain a seat in the a bus when she was told to move back and she stood up for herself Martin Luther King Jr.: He stood up for blacks rights and finally gained them.
