A fun fact is that one of the first motion pictures he took (and the first one copyrighted) was of one of his employees pretending to sneeze!

The Frenchman Louis Lumiere is often credited as inventing the first motion picture camera in 1895.
The first documented showing before an audience of a motion picture with reeled film and electric light was in 1894 in Richmond, Indiana. The inventor of the Phantoscope, a prototype of the movie projector, Charles Francis Jenkins patented the projector shortly after.
