Here is what happened...
Anakin had delivered the horrifiying truth that Chancellor Palpatine was a Sith Lord. Mace Windu and other Jedi go to arrest the new Sith. Anakin then realizes that if he lost Palpatine, his hopes to save his wife Padme would be lost. He then goes to the Chancellor's quarters and sees Mace Windu ready to finish Palpatine off. Anakin then activates his lightsaber and cuts Windu's arm off. Palpatine then shocks Windu with force lightning and throws Windu out the window leading him to his death.
I think he died that way, but they say George Lucas will make episodes 7, 8, and 9. It also says that Mace Windu will actually die then.

∙ 12y agoAfter a just-turned-evil Anakin Skywalker prevented Windu from killing Palpatine by cutting his hand off, Palpatine electrocuted the crap out of him and then, using the Force, threw Windu out of the broken window and, obviously, fell a thousand feet to his death

∙ 13y agoMace Windu is betrayed by Anakin Skywalker who severs his lightsaber hand as Windu is preparing to kill Chancellor Palpatine. Disorientated, Windu is then struck with lightning by Palpatine causing him to plunge to his death out of the chamber window.
