The women's suffragette movement was started by Kate Shepperd, resulting in NZ becoming the first nation in the world to grant women the right to vote in 1893. NZ was therefore the first country in the world to have universal suffrage.
There is no definite date as to when NZ was found, but history has NZ was found at least 700 years ago when it was discovered and settled by the Polynesians. The first European to set foot into NZ was Abel Tasman on 13 December 1642.
