Disney's first studio to produce animated cartoon shorts (which are films) was "Laugh-o-gram" studios in Kansas City in the early 1920's. Over the next few years, he worked for several other studios, notably Universal, developing a character called "Oswald Rabbit". He had the foresight to hire the best people he could find to work for him, as it quickly evolved that Walt's genius was as the idea man (he never was a truly skillful animator himself). By 1926, he had set up his own studio in Los Angeles, and developed the character of Mickey Mouse who premiered in "Steamboat Willie", but Walt was already looking down the road to a full-length animated feature. Walt and his studio started production of their first full-length film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, in 1934. After its success in 1937, they continuing making films animated and live-action still to this day.
