The show had a 1973 Pilot called Shoppers Bazaar that might be called Merv Griffin's first attempt at inventing Wheel of Fortune as it was very different from the 1974 pilot. After NBC cancelled his show Jeopardy Merv Griffin produced the Wheel of Fortune show with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford. Premiering on January 6 1975 the daytime show continued after Merv Griffin syndicated the Nighttime Wheel of Fortune show until on September 20 1991 the Daytime show was cancelled. The syndicated Nighttime version of Wheel of Fortune first aired on September 19 1983 and has just finished the 27 season.
