I asked this question earlier, and someone answered "When it rains!" I hope they were just being silly, because they were dead wrong. It floods after it rains in Angola to the north, in June and the water slowly travels down into the delta in Botswana. It takes a few months, and the flooding peaks in August, but can last from July to October. Since it is the dry season in Botswana at that time, it is not because it is raining! The Earth quickly soaks up all the water, restoring it to Desert, until the cycle repeats itself the next year.
