It depends on which area of the country you are visiting. For most of the southern part of the continent, later in autumn or in spring are the best times as the weather is milder. The summer months can be extremely hot and dry in the center and south of the continent except Tasmania. In the north, the summer months are monsoonal and the weather is humid, with torrential rains in parts. Winter is a good time to visit the central and northern parts, and the winters are not overly cold anywhere in the country except in Tasmania, Melbourne and the Alps.
