Carter Woodson choose February as the month to celebrate Black History because of the two Historical African American birthdays Frederick Douglas 2/14 and Abraham Lincoln 2/12. He also wanted to recognized the outstanding achievements of Americans of African Heritage to scient, literature, and the arts of becoming transfromed to Black History Month.
