Titanic was laid down on March 30,1909 The idea for the Titanic was born during a dinner party in the summer of 1907. Lord Pirrie and J. Bruce Ismay came up with a plan to build three huge ships, each would be bigger and more luxurious that Lusitania. The first ship would be called Olympic, the second, Titanic, and the third, Gigantic.Work began on the Titanic on March 31, 1909.
Designs for the Olympic and Titanic were first drafted in 1907, with the drawings presented to Harland and Wolff on July 29, 1908.
Thomas Andrews was hired to help build, and work as a crewsman, on the Titanic because it was his idea in the first place to built it.
