When where the three stooges first aired?

While the Stooges were making the two reelers they only were shown in movie theatres and not on television. It was not until after they ended their contract with Columbia, after the 1958 season, that Screen Gems bundled their two reelers into packages and sold them to television stations. Station KTTV in Los Angeles is believed to have bought the first package and began airing them in 1959.

The Three Stooges started in 1925 as part of a vaudeville act called 'Ted Healy and His Stooges'. They went through legal battles with Healy but after a settlement, debuted in 1933 as The Three Stooges and were signed by MGM Studios. In 1934, they split with Healy and over the years experienced numerous personal changes when one of the troupe would get sick or pass away.
