Alan Ladd sent my Father a letter in 1956 about the gunbelt ( actually a 'concho'- belt, Native American made ) that he explained was purchased for him by his wife "Sue" as a gift. There were only 5 made of this style concho and my Father now owns one that it took me YEARS to rack down. There were (two) holsters used in the movie. Alan Ladd/s own and one that was used in some scenes and for publicity photo's/appearances. I tracked that one down too. There were two revolvers used. Alan Ladd's own ( which had the trigger removed and was 'set-up' to be 'fanned') where-in Ladd was able to draw the revolver quickly and 'sweep' the hammer back ( letting it fall ) thus firing. There was a 2nd revolver/replica with the trigger and missing the front site ( as was Ladd's ) to allow for no 'snagging' on the holster. The replica had a ( 2nd pair ) of hand carved ivory horsehead grips which were also Ladd's. In the letter, Ladd tells my father that "Miss Head ( the well known Edith Head/Costumer-designer ) was correct, and the costume ( actually one of 4 buckskin shirts, the hat, the holster ( one used in some scenes and promo photo's ) and gun ( the 2nd non-shooting replica w/horsehead grips ) had indeed been sent to the wax museum in England ( Madame Tussaud's ). My Father now has this costume, except for the buckskin pants and boots which were stored and lost many years ago.

"Orion's belt" just refers to the three stars which are more or less in a row. Those are real stars, not galaxies. In the movie "Men In Black", there was a statement that "the galaxy is on Orion's belt", which didn't seem to make sense at first (as was pointed out to the main character); but the "galaxy" turned out to be a miniature galaxy (the size of a pebble), the "belt" was actually a collar, not a belt, and "Orion" was the name of a cat.

In Shane, Shane is the main character and protagonist of the book. Shane is a mysterious man. He is dressed differently from the other men, wearing a black hat, boots, and a belt. Shane quickly becomes Joe's friend and Bob's hero. Shane never let any of Joe's family be hurt or killed. He has experience to quickly deal with dangerous or threatening situations to the Starretts. Fletcher is the antagonist of the book. He is a horrible person who wants to buy land from the farmers. Flecter gets angrier when Joe talks with the other farmers to not sell their farms. Soon after, when Shane comes around Joe brings measures to violence and murder Joe and Shane. Marian Starrett is a female character in the book. She is Joe's wife, Bob's mother, and the family cook. She also falls in love with Shane but doesn't lose love in Joe. Marian tells Shane that she needs him and that it is great having two bonds. Marian also likes that Bob has another role model. Bob Starrett is the narrator and reveals the story and characters. Bob father is his hero, but when Shane comes along he became his most important role model. Shane also teaches Bob as a role model that a man does not enter a fight and take responsibility for his actions.
