The Full Monty is a 1997 comedy film, a story of six unemployed British steel workers who decide to form a male striptease act. It is set in Sheffield, England, and stars Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, William Snape, Steve Huison, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Barber, and Hugo Speer. The movie was written by Simon Beaufoy and directed by Peter Cattaneo. It won the Academy Award for Original Music Score for Anne Dudley, and was nominated for Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

This Film is a blend of Comedy and Drama with similar tone and theme to the movies Raining Stones (1993) or Brassed Off (1996).
The film has a deeper message about economic dilemma between need and self-respect. The protagonist is subject to choice between the line of survival or stripping. Directed by Peter Cattaneo together with screenwriter Simon Beaufoy generate enough human drama to connect with American as well as English audiences.
This was a low-budget production but seemingly a surprise hit with the American Motion Picture Academy, which was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, including Best Pictures.
