In Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver you can easily catch a wild shiny Gyarados in the Lake of Rage. Alternatively you can catch a wild shiny Gyarados anywhere else with a Super Rod or evolve a shiny Magikarp though both are extremely rare.

Shiny Pokémon are a special type of Pokémon, they basically have a different coloration of what's usual for their species. The term was coined by players and it makes reference to the sparkly effects that accompany the appearance of these characters. They were introduced onward Generation II and their appearance is a rare event, it can't be predicted nor caused, so, in order to get any of these Pokémon one would need to rely in luck.

Where do a catch red Gyarados in Pokemon diamond?

A red gyarados is a shiny gyarados (however, the Pokemon Company did not call them shiny untill the Unova Region). You can find it wherever you can find a normal gyarados, but your chances to find it are very slim.

Where can you find a gyarados?

In Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, the only way to get a Gyarados is to find a Magikarp and level it up til level 20. I think. And in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, where you battle the elite 4, where you use waterfall to get up there. You can find a gyarados in there. Gyrados is level 20. Find a level twenty or twenty one magikarp and level it up by one for Gyrados.
