I cannot answer this directly, but apparently there was a ship called the Mary Deare back in the 1700s or early 1800s captained by a "Capt Thompson", an English ship, involved in a treasure hunt/mystery in the Pacific Ocean off Peru. Supposedly, millions of $$$ worth of gold involved. I wondered if this older story was the original story that Hammond Innes novel was inspired by???
If you are talking about the treasure hunt starting at the sunken ship, it ends at the sunken ship. You have to go inside the ship and click on the treasure chest and there you have it, the treasure.
The ship was called the Hispaniola in the book Treasure Island.
