The head monk of the Gelugpa lineage is known as the Dalai Lama. The current Dalai Lama, as of my last knowledge update in October 2023, is the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. He is recognized as the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and is a prominent figure in advocating for peace and compassion worldwide.
While the details are unclear (for now) Tenzin has said that he and Lin had been growing apart for some time before Pema confessed her love for Tenzin. Tenzin took the opportunity and married Pema. It seems that Lin still harbours some resentment about the situation, and it is therefore likely Tenzin's feeling of 'growing apart' was not mutual.
