Quarter Horse
The horse, whose real name was Let's Merge (Rising Star in Electric Horseman), was a Quarter Horse. Apparently Robert Redford took ownership of the horse after the movie and Let's Merge died 18 years later.
It was released into the wild, where it lives wild and free with a horse herd.
