Captain Smith moved to the Bridge directly after the impact of the Ice Berg as he ordered the Titanic to be brought to a 'full stop'. His whereabouts beforehand however are unclear.

Captain Edward John Smith, (27 January 1850 - 15 April 1912) was the captain of the RMS Titanic on its maiden and only voyage (April 10, 1912). He was a very well-known captain for the White Star Line, and Titanic's maiden voyage was going to be his last before retirement. After organizing the necessarily-incomplete evacuation of passengers, he went down with his ship. In the 1997 film "Titanic" he was portrayed by actor Bernard Hill.
The captain of the Titanic was Edward Smith. On the night the ship hit the iceberg, he was in command and had been warned about ice in the area but did not reduce speed significantly. After the collision, he took charge of the evacuation efforts, directing the crew and passengers to lifeboats, and ultimately went down with the ship.
The titanic didd'nt hit the ice berg on the front it hit it on its side if it wouldnt of hit the front then there is a posobiility that the titanic would still be running after the damage got repared.

No, Captain Edward Smith had already gone to bed when the Titanic hit the Iceberg, the ship however had two lookouts stationed in it's crows nest. It was Fredrick Fleet, one of the lookouts in the crows nest, who first spotted the berg. He radioed the bridge as soon as he seen it.
