if you watch closely a lot of them have flash backs. like angel season 1 when he meets Doyle and remembers when whistler found him in the streets of LA just as Buffy finds out she is the chosen one (commonly known as the slayer). it is difficult to say exactly how many as some of them have flashbacks that you don't notice straight away.

Angel never bites Buffy's mom. Darla bites her, then throws Joyce at Angel, and Buffy walks in on Angel holding her mother, while her mother has bite marks on her neck. Buffy just thought that Angel had feed off of her mother.
