New Zealand's highest waterfall has been the topic of debate for some years. The highest single-drop waterfall are the Sutherland Falls near the Milford Track, with a height of 580m. The other contender for the title of highest falls are the Browne Falls in Doubtful Sound. Browne Falls have a height of 836 but, in the truest definition of the word, are not actually waterfalls but cascades, with no water falling free of the rocky mountainside.
Sutherland Falls towards the head of the Arthur Valley on the Milford Track. Drops in three leaps about 580m from Lake Quill.
There are another couple of candidates, both in Doubtful Sound. Browne Falls and Lady Alice Falls. 843m and 919m respectively.
But like Sutherland, these latter two do not plunge as a single drop, in fact they are more 'steep cascades' than falls. Where the line is drawn between the two types is arguable - Average gradient would be one.
Must do some more research. Thanks for the qquestion.
So the simple answer to your question is 'in Fiordland', but that is pretty obvious.
Sutherland falls
what kind of a question is that?if you mean "does new zealand have the highest animal abuse in the world"then the answer is NO.
Yes it is. New Zealand has the 20th highest living standard in the world. With #19 being Liechtenstein and #21 being the United Kingdom.
A question whose answer is more indeterminate than may be thought. Tallest refers to height, but most waterfalls do not have an unbroken fall. Sutherland Falls near Milford Sound are commonly called the tallest, but have three distinct leaps. In Doubtful Sound there are more than two falls that have higher total drops, but they have extensive breaks. So a simpler Q may be which is the tallest single leap waterfall in New Zealand. Or you may wish to consider down to what gradient you would still call it a waterfall.
The Tugela Falls located on the Tugela river in South Africa is the highest waterfall on the African continent and also the second highest in the world. The Victoria Falls located on the Zambezi river between Zambia and Zimbabwe is considered the biggest waterfall in the world.
