Apex ;) Britian controlled all the land from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River
The French and the Indians were defeated by the English and their Colonial American allies, as part of the Seven Years War.
The Indians lost, England won, and England became the dominant power in North America.
The British won and acquired Canada and all the land as far west as the Mississippi.
The English won the war in February 1763. But later the King of England made the Proclamation of 1763, making the Colonists stay in the original 13 Colonies. In other words... they weren't allowed to settle west of the Mississippi River. Therefore, there wouldn't be another war between the Indians and the English. England was now bankrupt. The king placed taxes on the Colonies. There was the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Tea Tax, and homestead act. The Colonies soon became very angry with the English for they were over pricing the taxes and they had no say in Parliament. That leads into the Revolution.
For all practical purposes, France lost claim to its territory in North America. England gained control of the lands east of the Mississippi River and all of French Canada. By extending British control over the lands west of the Appalachian mountains, this territory was opened up for English colonial expansion. That expansion was resisted by the natives, particularly noteworthy was Pontiac's Rebellion.
Britain's attempt to recover funds spent in pursuing the French and Indian War through various taxes (Stamp Act; Tea Act, etc.) led to the American Revolution.
The French and Indian War produced several decisive and indecisive results. For one, the French and their Huron allies captured a number of key forts within New York. The French, however, did lose a lot of territory within Quebec and Acadia at the hands of British forces. While England and France continued to fight for possession of the continent, the Mohawks and their allies were almost redeveloped out of existence by rival Indian tribes. In the end, the British claimed victory by an extremely small and narrow margin.
The colonist began to get bigger. By the 1750s, British colonists were moving west into places that France said it already owned. Soon people from Great Britain and France began to fight over the land. in 1754 French soldiers joined with Native American groups. Together, they tried to make the British colonists leave the land west of Appalachian Mountains. Britian sent troops to the colonies. The conflict was called the French and Indian War
