You can make pictures appear on Windows Movie Maker by importing them into the program. Once they are imported, drag and drop the media from the Imported Media area into the Storyboard or Time-line view.

If you are talking about the Windows Movie Maker program, the Imported Media viewing pane (or Collections folder) contains media used in the project.
In Windows Media Player, right-click on the song you want to use in Windows Movie Maker and choose: Open File Location. This will open the folder/file for the song on your computer. Click on the song from the file location... drag and drop it into the Windows Movie Maker Imported Media pane.
