As was shown in the Whitebeard War arc, even though terminally ill and fatally wounded, Whitebeard was still able to easily overpower Blackbeard.

While Blackbeard was able to neutralise Whitebeard's quake powers, he was still no match for his natural physical size and strength.

Who is white beard in one piece?

'Whitebeard' aka Edward Newgate is an influential pirate captain in One Piece. His Japanese name is 'Shirohige' which literally means 'white facial hair' and refers to his signature crescent moustache - Japan does not have seperate words for beard or moustache. However since it doesn't translate very well, he is known as Whitebeard in the english version, despite not having a beard. Whitebeard is (or rather, 'was') one of the four pirate captains known as the 'Yonkou', 'four emperors', whose combined strength was said to match that of the entire Marine forces. However while the Marines make up a unified force, the Yonkou oppose each other and are at a stalemate. Whitebeard was considered the strongest of the four. In fact his epithet was 'The Strongest Man in the World', and this was no exageration. At least five metres tall, armed with a massive bisento and the earthquake powers of the Guru-guru fruit, he was all but unstoppable. Even while terminally ill, he was able to defeat vice-admiral John Giant (a genuine giant of well over five times his height) in a single blow, and the formidable Admiral Akainu despite taking a mortal wound from his lava powers. Whitebeard was beloved by his crew and allies as a father figure, even embracing an ally who had just betrayed him a moment ago, deceived by a marine plan. However the one thing he could not forgive is those who would harm his crew, which is the cause of the war at Marineford to rescue one of his officers, Portgas D Ace. It was during this war that he met his end, shot to death by Blackbeard's crew. He died on his feet, and his death sent a shockwave through the world, with areas that had been under his protection now ripe for plunder.
