Bartolomeu Dias
Although the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias departed on his expedition in 1487, it was in 1488 that he discovered the southern tip of Africa. He discovered the Cape of Good Hope during his 1487-1488 voyage.
It was named because of the great optimism engendered by the opening of a sea route to India and the East. Answer2 The major cape close to the southern tip of Africa had not always been known as the Cape of Good Hope. Originally it was given the name Cape of Storms by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomeu Dias in 1488, due to the stormy weather. John II of Portugal renamed it for the above mentioned reasons. John II of Portugal renamed it Cape of Good Hope because its discovery was a good omen that India could be reached by sea from Europe Also known as cape of storms. It received its name because in the past it was very difficult for the ships to pass this point, especially during bad weather, without being wrecked as there are many rocks, etc close to the shore.
Cape of Good Hope is in the Cape Peninsula of South Africa. Its first name was "Cape of Storms" by Bartolomeu Dias, a Portuguese explorer.

Bartolomeu Dias
Bartolomeu Dias sailed around the tip of South Africa, passing the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Agulhas from 1487-1488.
He did that in 1488, making it the 15th century.
Bartholomew Diaz rounded the Cape twice in his lifetime. He lived from 1450 to 1500 CE.As far as I know the exact date he returned from the Cape is not known, at least for his first voyage. He discovered the Cape of Good Hope in 1488, and then accompanied Vasco de Gama on another voyage in 1497. His return to Europe would be between 1488 and 1497. I would think that his return would be in the early 1490's, but you never know. However, these two dates should give you a decent time frame of when he would have returned.Of course, he perished off the Cape of Good Hope in 1500.
