Because of this, she was considered misunderstood. Being misunderstood and unloved gave her a bitter feeling and she became the Wicked Witch of the West. Then there is Nessarose who is Elphaba's sister but she is seen as the wicked witch of the east because she made a selfish descision to keep her love.
