Mheetu was originally Nala's little brother who was in an early script of The Lion King. His role was that Scar threw Mheetu into a wildebeest stampede in the gorge to lure adolescent Simba to his death, but he later rescues him and survives. However, his character was written out of the final script, but he is widely used in Lion King fanfiction. Overall, Mheetu is an unofficial character in The Lion King movie universe. Only concept art of Mheetu still exist.

Mheetu's apperance in some pictures drawn by fans show him with light yellow fur and brown spots and blue eyes. In a early version of The Lion King, Simba saved Mheetu from the gorge and the stampede. However, there was nowhere to fit this in by the time the final storyboard was made, so little Mheetu had to be cut from the film.
