'Jo' is the only name that each and every one of Oogaboo's 18 men goes by. As confusing as that is, the situation is far better than for 70 out of Oogaboo's remaining 72 residents. Who is going to sweep the living room floor is the reason why Queen Ann Soforth of Oogaboo and her sister Salye argue in 'Tik-Tok of Oz'.Ann thinks that sweeping isn't within the scope of her employment as royal head of Oogaboo. But the problem lies in there being no one else to get the task done. Such a perceived insult to her royal dignity quickly becomes the reason why she decides to invade the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of Oz.Specifically, Oz is known for the prosperity of its residents and the beauty, intelligence and peacefulness of its ruler, Princess Ozma. In contrast, Oogaboo is known as the smallest and poorest kingdom on the other side of the rainbow from the Kansas of Dorothy Gale in 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Jo Files has steel files available for the residents of Oogaboo, in 'Tik-Tok of Oz'. The files are on twelve trees in his orchard. But they aren't the only product line that Jo Files carries.Files also has nine trees on which are found story books. The books grow inside green husks that indicate ripeness by turning deep red. Books picked too soon lack interest, organization and respect for proper grammar and spelling. But once they're read, the books disappear.
Through the giving up of the throne by both her parents, Ann Soforth becomes Queen of Oogaboo, in 'Tik-Tok of Oz'. Her father, King Jol Jemkiph Soforth, tires of disputes, decisions about cabbage-planting and onion-pickling times, and contempt from a complaining royal wife. His only way out is flight to somewhere in Oz. A few years later, his Queen decides to track him down and leave their elder daughter Ann in charge. Years later, the royal parents still are missing, and Ann still rules over the 89 residents of the poorest and smallest country in the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of Oz.
