***SPOILERS***

The enemy in Inception is portrayed as the subconscious. The tangible enemy would be Cobb's portrayal of his wife Mal. Although Saito is portrayed as the enemy in the beginning, he turns out to be no more than a businessman offering a job to Cobb.

If you want to speculate, Michael Caine may be the enemy, if you consider the ending of the movie. You dont know if he is still in a dream or not, but by the age of Cobb's children, it is possible that Michael Caine tricked him, or possibly someone else. the ending of the movie, focusing on the spinning dradel, does not mean it is or it isnt

According to Christopher Nolan, the purpose is to show that he's left his past behind to be with his children.

According to Michael Caine, it is not a dream, because he never appears in Cobb's dreams.

I know this answer was more than expected from a simple question and definitely off topic, but i felt that it was necessary.
