Henry Fonda was 76 years and 317 days old on March 29, 1982, when he won the 1981 Best Actor Oscar for "On Golden Pond." He died five months after the ceremony. Interestingly, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had presented Fonda an honorary Oscar for career excellence the year before.

On February 26, 2012, Christopher Plummer was 82 years and 75 days old when he won the 2011 Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in "Beginners." He surpassed the longevity record of the late Jessica Tandy, who won the 1989 Best Actress Oscar for "Driving Miss Daisy" when she was 80 years and 252 days old.
