Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Bolivar Palacios y Blanco ka Simon Bolivar [July 24, 1783-December 17, 1830], Jose Francisco de San Martin Matorras ka Jose de San Martin [February 25, 1778-August 17, 1850], and Bernardo O'Higgins Riquelme [1776? 1778?-1842] were important leaders in Spanish America's attempts to become politically independent from Spain. Bolivar's role was so pivotal that he was known in Spanish as El Libertador [The Liberator], and in English as The George Washington of South America. For he set in motion the successful struggles for independence in modern Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. Like the 1st U.S. President, Bolivar set similarly important precedents. December 17, 1819-May 4, 1830, he served as the 1st President of Gran Colombia, a short-lived republic taking in the lands of modern Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela; and parts of the lands of modern Brazil, Costa Rica, Guyana, and Peru. At the same time, he became the 2nd-3rd President of Venezuela, August 6, 1813-July 7, 1814 and February 15-December 17, 1819; 1st President of Bolivia, August 12-December 29, 1825; and 6th President of Peru, February 17, 1824-January 28, 1827.

Why is Simon bolivar called George Washington of South Africa?

Simon Bolivar was the liberator of South America, totally different continent then South Africa. It's more correct to say that George Washington was like Bolivar and not the other way around. Bolivar armies were made up of not only men but women, and all the different countries, (not just some states) that he liberated the entire continent of South America from Spaniard rule, he not only gave freedom to the privilege classes but to all people. He freed the slaves and gave liberate to all men and women by writing the constitutions for the different countries. George Washington is similar but it has taken years and centuries after Washington for just slavery to be abolish. Simon Bolivar is more best compared to a combination of North American leaders, such as Geroge Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson many others, not just one.
