Edwin Booth Willis (January 28, 1893 - November 26, 1963) made the set for "The Wizard of Oz."
Specifically, Mr. Willis had a long involvement with MGM Studios, his only film studio employer. His responsibilities included artistic direction as well as interior and set decoration. He preferred set decoration, which he combined with interior decoration as often as possible. He was nominated 32 times for an Academy Award and in fact accepted eight Oscars, equally divided between his work on black and white and on color productions.
