Captain Flint was Long John Silver's Parrot in Stevenson's treasure Island.

The parrot was named after Captain Flint who was the pirate responsible for burying the treasure on Treasure Island. Flint was the captain of the 'Walrus' John Silver was the Quartermaster and the only man that Flint feared. Silver named the parrot Captain Flint as an insult to the late Captain Flint. The Captain was dead at the time of the novel, having died at an inn in Savannah from too much rum.

Though Captain Flint never appears directly in the novel, he is frequently referenced and was the man responsible for making the map used and murdering six pirates and aligning their remains as pointers to aid in finding the treasure.
