The Volturi slaughtered all of the Romanian coven except for two, Vladimir and Stefan. Vladimir and Stefan had been waiting to spring a trap on the Volturi when they retreated. The two remaining Romanians have a bitter hatred of the Volturi coven, especially Jane and Alec (who they refer to as "the witch twins") because they were one of the main reasons the Volturi won.
