The Iroquois tribes had an extremely violent relationship with the Huron because of rivalries connected with the fur trade - they constantly waged war with each other to the extent that the Huron were finally driven out of their villages and hunting grounds.
I believe it is because the French treated them better generally. The reason behind this was that the French had less white settlers than the British and could not afford to lose favour with the Indians, especially the Huron tribe. The French also had greater interation with the natives as they would trade furs and one of the major French goals in North America was to convert the Indians to Roman Catholicism, not massacre them like the Spanish
The role of the Canadian fur trade was to allow the natives to trade fur pelts for goods, with the europeans.
The First Nations contributed to the fur trade by giving them pemmican, acting as guides, teaching them how to ride canoes, hunted the animals to give the fur to the Europeans, and

A bigger expansion of the Fur Trade :)
One of the advantages of the fur trade for Indians was that the Europeans supplied them with rifles. Fur was in high demand in Europe so Europeans were making a lot of profit. A disadvantage of the fur trade for the Europeans was that they had a lot of conflict with each other. A disadvantage for the Indians was that the Europeans took control over the fur trade.

Huron agreed to supply the Champlain with furs if he would help them defeat their rivals in the fur trade, the Iriqouis. The French agreed.In return, the Huron helped the French increase their fur trading business and remain their allies for many years.
