No. In the original book, and in the 1939 film version of The Wizard of Oz, the Winged Monkeys carried both Dorothy Gale and her pet dog Toto to the Yellow Castle of the Wicked Witch of the West, in the Winkie Country. In the book, Toto remained with Dorothy in the Castle until the Witch had been killed by melting from having a bucket of water thrown on her. In the movie, Toto escaped from the Castle and found the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion. Tot then led the three friends back to the Castle, to rescue Dorothy.
Almira Gulch in the movie version and the Wicked Witch of the West in the book take Toto from Dorothy Gale in "The Wizard of Oz."
Specifically, Almira Gulch is a character in the beloved 1939 movie version of "The Wizard of Oz." Miss Gulch gets an order to take away Toto for having gotten into her garden and attacked her. She is not among the characters from the original 1900 book edition by Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 - May 5, 1919). In the book, it is the Wicked Witch of the West who tries to separate the little girl from her pet dog.
No, he didn't. He actually went home, and because of his safety, it was then Dorothy decided to run away from home, taking Toto with her. Dorothy is sure that Miss Gulch will stop at nothing to have Toto euthanized for biting her by accident, even if it means taking the Gale farm to herself if they refuse to give him up.
Nothing, because the incident never happened in real life- it was all a bad dream, a nightmare. Curiously, Wizard is one of very few films to use this denouement ( ending plot device) It can sometimes salvage weird science-fiction doom stuff, also.
Because the wicked witch knew how much Dorothy loved toto so she took him and knew Dorothy would follow to save her dog- it was a plan to get Dorothy to go to the witches tower.
