Bacteria first walked on the earth. Can bacteria be said to truly walk? My vote goes to the anthropods - centipedes, milipedes, and pill bugs you are incorrect is was algae,algae was the first thing, it breathes in carbon dioxide and breathes out oxygen so it then made bactiria. :-]

"set foot" and we will probably never know... it's impossible to know which animal first crawled out of the primordial soup and whether that animal even had a foot... unless of course we find verifiable fossil records that date back very close to the earth's baby years, but of course even then we couldn't really be sure if it was truly "first"
