William Mckinley was first elected in 1896 and re-elected in 1900. He served until September 14,1901, when he died from an assassin's bullet and the vice-president, Theodore Roosevelt took office as President. Roosevelt completed McKinley's second term ,was elected to a term of his own in 1904 and served until March 4, 1809.
