There are several reasons: * Actors or Talk Show Hosts need holidays too as well as their staff so they will use reruns during this time. * If a program has run for a long time, or the program isn't up to standard they will put reruns on until the contract is up and then take it off the air. Sometimes a program may have successfully run for years and the creator of that program may decide to take it off the air while it's still in high viewing standard. * Just recently writers for TV and movies went on strike because they weren't getting their fair piece of the pie. I back them on this! Until this problem is rectified there are no writers for sitcoms or movies.
