Following China's defeat in the Opium War of 1839-1842, a series of unequal treaties disintegrated China's traditional rural economy. Cash crops and unequal foreign trade caused many peasants to lose access to the land.
Some reasons are due to the California gold rush, Sugar plantation in Hawaii, the Opium War,etc.
The Opium War- They were looking for a better life, the Opium war left many Chinese peasants without land so other than death, they only had a choice to either revolt or to immigrate.
The gold rush- The Chinese main goal was to get enough money to live comfortably when the go back to their country (they call America "Gold Mountain").
Sugar Plantation- The Chinese new how to handle sugar canes and how to make profit from them. The Chinese had brought sugar to Hawaii, and now sugar began to bring the Chinese to Hawaii.
I know this is very brief and not detailed, but I hope it gives you an idea of why Chinese immigrated to America. I suggest you search those up if you want more information on them.
A lot of chinese immigrants came to United states after civil war for better lives because they thought that america has rich homes, high pay, and rich clothes to wear. Also, chinese immigrants came to United states in 1849 for Golf Rush, hoping to find gold.
The first large wave of Chinese immigrants came to Canada to participate in the British Columbia gold rush. No prizes for guessing why prospectors came to Canada from many areas of the world!
At around this time there were many extremely poor people in China. When recruiters offered men among them only one dollar a day to work on Canada's transcontinental railway many were willing to do it.
There's more about the history of Chinese Immigration to Canada on wikipedia.
They came to Canada because they thought that they could earn good money by farming and vegetation.

A person would become a Canadian citizen if they feel they would like to become a permanent part of the country. This includes voting in elections, living, working, and spending their life there.
Well, there are many things to see in Canada, but the main attraction is the Niagara Falls. People come from around the world to see that.
Canada offers a number of advantages; it is a relatively prosperous country, relatively uncrowded, democratic, and at peace; it has a great wealth of natural resources. Canada has a excellent public health care system. Many people come to Canada because they have friends or relatives who are already in Canada, whom they wish to join.

What would a new immigrants life be like in Canada? Many hours at ESL classes I'm guessing. Learning English is very important. Knowing the language well and being able to understand it will open very many doors. Answering yes to everything will close many doors and open some you do not want opened. Just as it would be if I moved to China and was not fluent in the language there. The experience would be different for each person and depends very much on where they go and what they want. If they want a piece of China in Canada, a place were all the food, smells, and even business culture is similar then Vancouver is your best choice. If you want to leave that behind and make your own way then northern Canada or Alberta is the place to be. I know there are poor people in China but the ones that move to Canada often have much more money than the average Canadian. They can afford a house in Vancouver where few Canadians can. If you are in that group Canada is great. Many things are cheaper here, fewer rules, and lots of opportunity. Again language is important but money makes up for that to a large extent. But it doesn't always work out. Some Chinese I've know have felt we are distant and cold. Sometimes they feel isolated and miss home. Some go back and I can understand that. Canada is not as crowded as China, and we respect others privacy so making new friends might be more difficult than back home. Either way give Canada a chance. We like immigrants though our rules do need to be updated. You might feel that relates to you but most Canadians see problems with the system, not the immigrants. You will be welcomed, after all people have been immigrating here from China for over 15,000 years!
they knew that other immigrants would as well want to coem into Canada and than that would be opeing the door to much..because other immigrants would want to make Canada tehre home as well
To work the fields in Western Canada, to assert Canadian soverity, to send the fruits of their labour East.

Refugees come to Canada because they either have war or their country is in danger. Also they might come to Canada because their country doesn't have rights that they think they should have. They also come to Canada because they want to have freedom.
