Mars would have to find more mass if it wanted to equal the Earth's. It has only 11% of Earth's mass.
Actually, the British settled there to find new resources and to make new colonies. Some famous people involved there were Pocahontas, John Smith, John Rolfe, etc.
Tobacco of course only because that's what they were farming and then everybody wanted it because it became so addicting. John Rolfe Happened to find this strain of Tobacco which saved Jamestown. (The Real Guy who married Pocahontas)
it was there cahs crop Jamestown was originally supposed to find gold. When none was discovered Jamestown became extremely poor and disease and famine were everywhere. One man even ate his own wife (he was later hanged). Anyway, when John Rolfe married Pocahontas Powhatan allowed the British to plant tobacco. Which became worth a lot in England and therefore Jamestown grew in wealth.
Smith did not find the settlement area that became Jamestown. It was found by Captain Edward Wingfield.
Virtual Jamestown
He didn't find any colonies. His main claim to fame is saving the Jamestown settlement.
They almost did. Within 6 months after landing 34 men were still alive from the 106 that landed. There was never suppose to be a "colony", but the men were sent to find gold for a group of investors. The ship landed in the worse place in the whole area and among a Native American kingdom of 15,000 people. The only thing that saved the colony was tobacco. John Rolfe introduced the plant to the area and saved it.
Jamestown was chosen because of the climate was similar to Britain.
The men of Jamestown were sent by investors to make them a profit and not claim land or settle. It was by accident that it was a success. The 104 men who arrived died of diseases and starvation. Within 6 months only 34 men were alive. If it hadn't been for the introduction of tobacco by Rolfe the colony may have not succeeded at all. Tobacco saved Jamestown.
The motivation of John Smith and all of the colonists at Jamestown was to make a lot of money. Originally they hoped to find gold and gems, but when that did not work out, they decided to do it by growing tobacco plantations.
when the feud between James and john ended after 30 years of not talking to each other because of one weird night when they kissed each other after the dispute ended James then sent a carrier pigeon to johns castle and invited him to his house in Jamestown with written directions and a map
