1. Cheaper

2. More efficient

The reason for a bicameral government is basically to check and balance the other house, this is necessary in a National Government and MAYBE populace states. But pointless in a smaller state like Nebraska, it would only and a large unnecessary cost to our budget.

Was the town of Lincoln Nebraska named after Abraham Lincoln?

According to the Nebraska ETV documentary "Frontier University Dreams," the territorial government insisted that if the capitol moved from the territorial capitol of Omaha the new location should change its name to Lincoln in honor of the president. This was actually a ploy by the Omaha faction because the head of the faction championing their chief rival, the town of Lancaster, was a well known Southern sympathizer. Instead of balking at the suggestion, he was the first to second it and the capitol was moved to Lancaster, with the name change.

What is a agreement at the constitution convention that established a bicameral legislature called?

The proposal to form a bicameral congress instead of a unicameral one was proposed in the Virginia Plan. It was drafted by James Madison in 1787.

What didn't describe the Virginia Plan?

The Virginia Plan did not advocate for a unicameral legislature; instead, it proposed a bicameral system with representation based on state population or wealth. It also did not support equal representation for all states, as it favored larger states. Additionally, the Virginia Plan included a strong national government with the power to legislate and veto state laws, which was a significant departure from the existing Articles of Confederation.

The Great Compromise was proposed by the Connecticut representative to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. The Great Compromise decided that representation in the House would be based on population, whereas each state would have an equal number of senators.

What statements are false regarding the Great Compromise?

The Great Compromise did not create a unicameral legislature; instead, it established a bicameral Congress, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Additionally, it did not resolve the issue of slavery, as it allowed states to count enslaved individuals as three-fifths of a person for representation purposes. Claims that it mandated equal representation for all states in the House are also false, as representation in the House is based on population, while the Senate provides equal representation with two senators per state.

Did the Articles of Confederation provided the US an effective government?

The Articles of Confederation did NOT provide the United States with an effective government. It lacked many powers that we now have. For example the government in the 1780's couldn't impose taxes, it was unicameral, and it could not declare war. If it would have been effective we would still be under the power of the articles instead of the constitution.
