Zeus did not refuse. When Prometheus made man, he wanted to bestow upon him a special gift, but his brother, Epimetheus gave all the gifts to the other animals. So, Prometheus, knowing man was special, made him walk upright on two legs, like the gods, and gave him fire to master.
Prometheus then taught man about the gods, and helped them prepare their first offering. Favoring man over his cousin, Prometheus made two offerings to Zeus. The first was the best cuts of meat wrapped in an ox's stomach (something nourishing that looks unpleasant) and the beef bones wrapped in fat (something inedible that looks pleasing... keeping in mind that fat was an important part of the diet). Zeus took the latter, setting the precedent for future offerings. OUtraged that he'd been tricked by Prometheus, Zeus took fire away from Man and hid it on Mt. Olympus.
Prometheus stole the fire, returned it to man, and paid the price by being chained to a rock and having an eagle eat his liver daily. Mankind paid as well, for Zeus sent Pandora with her box of woe to plague mankind forever.
Fire, so they could stay warm and cook food.
Prometheus felt bad for his creations of man of earth, and stole fire from the gods to give to them. He was punished by Zeus to have his liver torn out by an eagle everyday, until he was rescued by Hercules.
Zeus really was all about having power over the humans. He saw himself as almighty and thought nothing of the mortals. On the other hand Prometheus was willing to give himself for the humans. He was thought to bring fire to the earth from Mt. Olympus. Also he scalped humans out of clay and they were unhappy so he decided to give them fire to brighten their lives (even though he suffered harsh punishments from Zeus for stealing the flame). Of course all of this is in Greek Mythology.
In mythology Prometheus is the titan who stole fire from zeus to give to the humans. Since Equality rediscovered electric light he changes his name.
Prometheus has given fire and useful arts to humanity. For this, and for not revealing to Zeus which among his consorts will give birth to the son that destroys him, Zeus orders his henchmen Force and Violence and the god Hephaestus to chain Prometheus to a rock. Prometheus' punishment reveals Zeus's insecurity as founder of the new Olympian dynasty. Io, a nymph who is another victim of Zeus, appears in the form of a heifer. To avoid discovery of his affair with Io, Zeus had transformed her thus, but his wife Hera had known of the seduction and sent a stinging gadfly to pursue...
Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mankind.
No son of Zeus gave mankind fire, Prometheus, a Titan god of forethought stole it and gifted it to mankind.
Zeus took away fire from Prometheus as punishment for stealing it to give to humanity. This act of defiance angered Zeus, who wanted to keep fire as a symbol of divine power. As further punishment, Zeus also condemned Prometheus to eternal torment, where he was bound to a rock and had his liver eaten by an eagle every day.

I think you are talking about Prometheus. Prometheus was Zeus's servant. He gave mankind fire, but Zeus did not want him to. Humans thought fire was magic and when they found out that it wasn't, Zeus feared they would think the gods weren't as majestic and worthy. So, when Prometheus gave humans fire, Zeus found him and tied him to a pole where he would send an eagle to eat his liver every day. But, by the next morning, it would have grown back. Prometheus suffered this because he knew Hercules would rescue him. Prometheus could see into the future, so he knew this. That is why Zeus kept him around. Hercules rescued Prometheus. So, that's the story.

Zeus was angry with Prometheus because he defied the gods by stealing fire from Mount Olympus and giving it to humanity, which allowed them to advance in technology and civilization. This act of rebellion was seen as a challenge to Zeus's authority and a violation of the divine order. As punishment, Zeus ordered Prometheus to be bound to a rock where an eagle would eat his liver daily, only for it to regenerate each night.
In greek mythology, Prometheus stole fire from Zeus, and was punished by having his liver eaten by an eagle every day.So, I imagine his advice would be"Don't steal", or"Don't get caught"
Prometheus foresaw the child that Zeus would bear that would eventually overthrow him but refused to tell Zeus who the mother of that child would be. Eventually he tells Zeus that it would be Achilles who would be his downfall and Zeus has Achilles's mother wed to another, thus securing his throne. He then allows Hercules to snap Prometheus's chains and free him. Oh and there's also a bit about how Prometheus stole fire from the gods to give to man.
