Why did the director of the movie 'poltergeist' use real corpses instead of fake ones?

They are not real corpses, as in cadavers that were used. However they are real human skeletons. The actual 'why' isn't given, but it can only be assumed that Spielberg wanted anatomical realism and the only way to assure that was to use actual human skeletons.
