Best Answer

Because the wealthiest people were to be the best treated, when they bought tickets to board the boat, the rich people bought tickets signing that they would have the best treatment on the boat, that is why most of the poor people died but not the rich, like in the movie Titanic.

Well, first of all they were housed lower down and farther away from the lifeboats, so ignoring anything else, they'd simply gotten there last anyhow.

But more imprtant was that during this time, people took the concept of class real seriously. 1st class would have been seen to first, then 2nd class, and 3rd class last. They'd just have to wait until their "betters" had gotten theirs first.
