Hollywood is full of pretentious, narcissistic filmmakers who think that by adding their own take or twist on an already intriguing and successful story that they are making it "better."
Why would anyone want to watch the exact same storyline that's already been portrayed in the games? I'm not saying the live action films have the best story by any means, but I think it's better to have their own; at least this way, the films don't end up ruining the games. However, lately the films and games seem to be feeding off each other, and they're both getting worse because of this.
Also, if you look at how big of a difference there is between the two series', I doubt it's down to the filmmakers thinking they were improving the story, as they're literally completely different things now.
The original story is from the video games. In my opinion the directors/writers of the resident evil movies did a very shite job, comparing to the games. The new afterlife coming out..just looks awful, they didnt get to put some of the things from the video games in other movies so they now have crammed so much shite into the movie its about to burst all over the people watching it in the cinema. P.s: no offence to anyone that actually likes these movies.
You can watch the movies whenever you like, the does not follow the series timeline and it not mentioned in the story
No, they are based on an indie film also called Saw by the same director.
there is no silenced handgun in resident evil 4 its just an untrue rumor
1) resident evil, 2) resident evil Apocalypse 3) resident evil Extinction 4) resident evil Afterlife oh and there is an animated film called degeneration but that has a different story featuring leon from resident evil 4 (the game) although in order of release, it was made between Extinction and Afterlife there is also another live-action film (non animated) due to be released next year, or the following year to conclude Afterlife because it is left wide open at the end with Alice, Claire and Chris in abit of a tight situation but im not giving away any spoilers.
One can find movies with easy to follow story lines on Netflix or YouTube. Movies with easy to follow story lines tend to be comedies or romantic comedies with simple plot and characters to follow.
