The gravity is used to try to cause some sort of resistance for the muscles of the astronaut to act upon. Without the gravity's work the muscles in the astronauts body would surely disintegrate very rapidly.

need gravity and you wash off with a wet washcloth

Why do astronauts need exercise in space?

There's no gravity in space - this affects their muscles. Exercising keep the muscles toned.

How do astronauts have a bath?

in space there will be no microbial activity hence no need of bath for astronauts and there will be zero gravity in space and also it occupy hell lots of place to store it......... hence waste of money, time.and full nonsence

Why do astronauts need to do special exercises?

In space there is no gravity for the muscles to work against so they tend to degenerate as do the bones they are attached to. Astronauts special exercises help to minimise these problems.

Will astronauts be able to survive in space without their specially made outfits if not why?

no because there is no air in space their is less gravity so need to wear special outfits

Does an astronaut cry tears in space?

Astronauts can cry tears in space. Tears will not run down your face, because there is no gravity, but they don't need gravity to form. When the tears get big enough they will break free of the eye when you blink and will float around in space forever until they freeze.

How will astronauts get oxygen out of space?

They need to take it with them. There is no oxygen in space

What kind of tests do astronauts take?

Astronauts have to do tests such as the comet, where they go on a short trip into space on a special plane, so they can get used to low gravity. They need to do alot of muscle workouts because they lose so much weight during space they could come back to earth and not be able to stand up because of the gravity

Why do you lose bone density in space?

astronauts lose bone muscle because they are not used to the gravity conditions in space. They will also lose muscle and need to excersing while in space and also before leaving Earth.

Do the astronauts need special clothes while living and working inside the space station?

If the space station is pressurized, I don't think astronauts need to where space suits.

What is the training astronauts go through?

Astronauts go through a great deal of training prior to going into space. It can take years for astronauts to go through all the training they need, which includes learning to work in zero gravity and going through a variety of realistic simulations.

Why do you need to keep fit in space?

Due to there being no gravity in space the strain on the body is reduced immensely. As a result muscles waste away and bone density decreases. Therefore exercise is a must. Even once astronauts return to earth they are weak as a result of gravity.
